Black Belt Candidate: Mike Wilds
2015 – my journey began at Krav Maga. Before then, I was training for 15 years in a Karate system called Koei Kan. I really enjoyed and learned a lot from a Sensei who passed away just before I was testing for my Black Belt. I continued on the journey of training there, but when he was gone, things were not the same for me. I was introduced to Krav Maga from a high-level practitioner in the Karate system. His name is Dave Keown. I remember him reaching out to me and asking me if I was still training, I had told him yes, but I needed something new. I was a new father at the time, and he had seen me walking with my son and had told me to come try a class. I was very close to the Krav Maga gym, and I met him up there one day and the rest is pretty much where I am now.
My journey has had some very challenging times as I moved up, trying to learn and become a strong practitioner. Right after my 3rd test, I was diagnosed with cancer, which I have since overcome. But I was never going to quit or let anything stop me. I am not someone that stops training. Getting back was hard, but Iam very thankful to all of the great instructors and training partners I have had over the years. I am honored to be invited to this very select group and I will bring everything I have to show that I belong with the rest of the Black Belts in the Krav Maga system. Lets Go.👊👊
