MEMORIAL DAY THOUGHTS FROM PAWEL...

Memorial Day always is a time of reflection for me. Whether at the parade, the cemetery or a local ceremony I try to comprehend the price so many had paid so we all could enjoy the freedom and the many blessing this wonderful country offers us. And as every year I end up overwhelmed and humbled…

Two quotes come to mind that day and, though centuries apart, they seem to fit the occasion perfectly. The first goes back to the story of the 300: ”Go tell the Spartans, stranger passing by, That here obedient to their laws we lie." ... There’s many ways one could interpret this passage but to me it’s a call to all of us to remember. It is our duty to keep their memory alive by sharing their story. So this Memorial Day we participated in a beautiful ceremony in Troy. And while a retired Army general was speaking I caught a glimpse of Peter who was quietly playing nearby. That’s when I got this photo of him. After the ceremony we talked about the meaning and the importance of the day and that’s when he told me he put his flag into the ground because there were dead soldiers there…

The second quote I heard repeated many times by the Goruck Cadre and other warriors I have the honor of knowing: “Make your life worth dying for, because someone just did.” Such a powerful sentiment. So simple. I keep reminding myself about this daily when I feel lazy or “too tired” to do something with my family or to train. And then I do. Because I can and so many can’t. How much would they give for one more day with their loved ones, one more workout with their buddies, one more chance to hug their kid…

So I hope you had a great day and lived it to the fullest. And if not, remember that the clock resets at midnight and you wake up with another chance to do great things. Every day.

THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND:

This weekend Pawel is participating in the Wolverine 5K Tactical Adventure Race - don’t worry, all classes are covered by the wonderful KMD Cadre. Pawel is a part of the Black Mountain Defense Team and joins Pjeter, Kayla and Dean to search, close with and destroy the communists threatening our freedom. Wonder how hard they had to work to convince him to join in ;)

CONGRATS - MR. AND MRS. JOHN AND JEN CARRA! WE ARE SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH!

COACH'S CORNER

Fitness - Key to Success

If you were asked what the single most important thing to be successful in your Fitness Goals, what would it be?

Training Methods? Nutrition? Having a Coach? Genetics, Gym or equipment you have access to? Finances? All of these things are very important and each has impact on how you will achieve the goals you set for yourself, however we are talking about the 1 thing. The 1 thing that sets champions above the rest of the crowd. That one thing is ...........

Consistency

I don't care what method you are using with your training, whether it be conjugate, linear periodization, Starting Strength, Cross-fit, Beach Body, Cybernetics (yes I'm old) or anything you have found on the internet. None of them will get you there without being consistent with your training. With Nutrition, it can be low carb, low fat, Adkins, Paleo, Mediterranean or any of the countless plans you see on bookshelves around the world. None of them will get you there without being consistent.

So to start you off, I am here to help you....

Make your bed

Brush your teeth

Wear your seatbelt

Get 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight

get 100 oz of water in

Don’t stress so much and just do a little bit every day..

Be Consistent!!

“The warrior understands the importance of discipline and understand fully that the highest, most valuable form of discipline is self-discipline. It is the only path that leads to mastery of any type. Discipline is not a gift you get at birth, it’s not in your genes. It is simply doing something and sticking to it, even if you have to take it second by second.” --Richard Machowicz

“We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day.” --Richard G. Scott
