I guess back in the day we didn’t take many pictures. We trained all day, ate a whole chicken for dinner and went to bed to get up early the next day and do it all over again. But I did find this one picture taken right after my Black Belt test sixteen years ago. On the right is Jeff from Krav Maga Indy, my Brother and my partner for most of the high level training and all our tests. On the left is Marcus. That day he was one of the “hired guns” or MMA fighters who showed up to help us in our quest. Marcus was awesome! We all knew him, as at that time he was running the Krav Maga Worldwide National Training Center in LA and he trained with us every time we were there. We knew how fast he was, how hard he hit, how well rounded he was as a fighter and we knew his conditioning was insane. So to see him walk in with his gear in a bag sent chills through my spine. When the time came, Marcus truly shined. Sparring him made me feel like I was in the Matrix. Unlike Neo though, I couldn’t do a thing. Like someone forgot to upload Krav Maga or any other fighting knowledge into my brain. I saw Marcus move and send a beautiful punch or a kick towards my head but by the time I realized what I saw it had already landed or I was falling to the ground like a cut down ancient oak after his takedown. I’ll never forget this experience or how professional he was. There may not be many pictures from our adventures but there are plenty of amazing memories.
Hopefully this gives you a glimpse of how excited I am for Marcus visiting KMD next week.
