Honoring Our Heroes Event Recap
We had a great turnout Thursday night at the annual Honoring Our Heroes event. THANK YOU! You guys always show up and your support is priceless to us. Hope you all gained some new respect and understanding for the service the firefighters provide to keep us all safe. This wouldn't have been possible without Jerry's initiative and leadership. We all know him for the delicious Bundt cakes he provides for all our events but before he got into the sweet business Jerry spent most of his life as a firefighter. It is hard to think of him as retired but in his years of service he worked his way up to the rank of a Battalion Chief! Jerry recruited some of his active duty buddies and together they planned the attractions you all enjoyed. He organized and delivered special equipment, coordinated with the Station 6 to secure the ladder truck and extra equipment and made sure the event went on without a glitch. Jerry, you rock!!!
Our long time friend Rick brought the truck on the night of his retirement from the fire service as he wouldn't miss the event for anything. Thank you.
Andriy took the initiative and created a training station where you had a chance to work on things we usually don't cover during regular classes. Thank you.
Shaun and Tim made a choice (and a sacrifice) to help out rather than have fun going through the evolutions with you. Couldn't have done it without you. Thank you.
Mallory, pregnant and busy found her way to support the team and help us keep the tradition going. You are amazing - thank you.
By showing up and doing hard things you made a loud statement - we remember and honor the sacrifice made on that fateful day.
Thank you for your generosity, support, big hearts, fighting spirit and the never quit attitude. You are what makes KMD what it is today. Thank you.
And last but not least, thank you to Lisa, Shelley and Peter who all showed up and helped as only they could. I couldn't do what I do every day without them. Love you guys.
